Reflect in a blog post on your portfolio site on the feedback you have on the training you selected. You can also reflect on why you chose this particular training for a refresher, and share your thoughts on the skills you want to focus on in the coming semester.

I selected the ArcGIS Online training because I knew I would be working with ArcGIS this semester. I thought that the training was pretty thorough, which is good for something as complex as digital mapping and probably unfamiliar for beginners. For improvement, I would suggest being more particular in the “Working with Data” sub-category. When I worked on Women’s Studies Worldwide with Dr. Montague two years ago, we had trouble with how the data was presented on the Excel chart. Not every project is going to come with a dataset well-adjusted for ArcGIS, and so a more extended explanation of what works and what doesn’t work data-wise in this sub-category can be helpful. Also, I would possibly add a more detailed explanation on how to embed one’s ArcGIS map onto a WordPress site and some considerations to make when embedding a map onto another website.
