In April, I wanted to incorporate more design work into the website for my project, so I didn’t have to rely as much on other people’s designated visions or fit my vision to someone else’s template. Canva is a tool I’ve used in the past for its ease in creating posters in a short amount of time, so this tool helped me map out how I wanted to design a landing page for the website. I wanted to also learn about design through Adobe Photoshop, knowing that I might be able to have more control with this tool. I’ve tried to learn how to use Photoshop in the past, but this was kind of difficult to learn on my own. I didn’t have a vision for what I would have wanted to create or a purpose to work toward. Thinking about how I could design an interesting and useable landing page with Photoshop was still difficult, as matching the ideas I had in my head and drawn on the physical page to digital design had the barriers of working with images available to me online and dealing with the side bar. Photoshop has so many different tools, and so I spent a lot of time trying to adapt to using the plethora included. Then, applying these individual skills was a whole other skillset. I’m still trying to use this tool, but hopefully, I’ll crack it one day.
